Beliefnet

Beliefnet is the largest multifaith website online today. It is an independent site that is not sponsored by any one religion or creed, but respects a wide range of different faiths. It has been nominated for an American Magazine Award for Best Website, and has won the Webby Award for best Spirituality site.

It is most of all a place for people of all faiths to come together to talk and understand each other. It is also the place to go for the very best coverage of the religious news that is shaping our world.

Sharon's Movie Reviews

Earlier this year, Beliefnet asked if they could hire me as their new "Family Film Reviewer." They said there seemed to be two camps of family film reviews on the web: those that liked anything rated G or appropriately religious; and those that didn't take kids' movies seriously at all. They wanted something in between. At the time, they didn't even realize I had a minor in Film History from NYU...they just knew I saw lots of kid movies and had plenty of wise and salient (okay, make that searing and wiseacre) opinions!

So I took the job, and found I finally had a gig that impressed the kids. I began dragging them and their friends along to screenings and movies, and, we've had a top-notch time of it. My reviews have even been quoted in Time Magazine, which means...well, that they've been quoted in Time Magazine.

I feel my place on the web is to be that educated friend who has seen the film you're wondering about and can chat with you in a way that will help you decide whether you would like to see the movie and bring the family. Please feel free to weigh in with your own opinions!
